Canadian Citizenship Success Story

One bright sunny afternoon in summer of 2016, a potential client called Rachel Brown to represent her before the Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada in applying for Canadian citizenship. Rachel arranged to meet with the client for consultation.

Our client is a permanent resident of Canada for over 40 years and has since resided in Canada. Obviously, our client is way overdue to become a Canadian citizen. Rachel submitted her application May 2016, received acknowledgment of receipt of application June 2016, received a request for police clearance certificates October 2016 and the application was finalized December 2016. Our grateful client took the Oath of Citizenship on January 1, 2017.

In the words of our client:

“Dear Rachel, thank you so much for your assistance in helping me obtain my Canadian Citizenship. I have really enjoyed getting to know you”.

Please be advised that although it took 8 months to finalize the application. Effective Fall 2017, IRCC will begin processing citizenship applications expeditiously and the residency requirement is now reduced to 3 years out of the most recent 5 years, taking into consideration, the time prior to becoming a permanent resident. To learn more about the recent changes, see Rachel’s blog.

Rachel also assisted the client in renewing her permanent resident card. The said application took 3 months processing.
